We've Been Building: A Marii Update

Published July 2026·3 min read

If you follow Marii on social media, you'll have noticed we've been quiet for a while. No excuses to offer — we've been heads down building, and something had to give. It was the posting.

What we focused on

Most of the work went into the unglamorous parts of the product — the parts you only notice when they break. We spent months on invoicing, ZIMRA compliance, and payments: fewer edge cases that trip things up, steadier fiscalisation, faster and more reliable payment confirmations. None of it makes for an exciting screenshot. All of it matters more than anything we could have posted about.

We're not going to list everything here, because most of it is the kind of improvement you shouldn't have to think about. The short version: the things you rely on Marii for every day should simply work, more of the time, with less friction.

Why it matters

Running a business in Zimbabwe means working around things you can't control — power that goes, data that drops, payment rails that have their moods. The tools you run your business on can't afford to add to that list. If an invoice fails to fiscalise or a payment confirmation goes missing, that's not a software bug to you — it's your day gone. So reliability isn't a feature we get to deprioritise. It's the whole point.

One more thing

We also built something new. We're announcing it soon.
