Sweets, airtime, IOUs on paper — and it isn’t only coins: a $10 note on a $1.50 bill is $8.50 you must find. Marii Cards keeps that change on a customer card instead, spent only at your till. The customer gets an SMS from you; you get a guaranteed next visit.
The ask is the default path — a scripted line on the till screen, not a policy your cashiers have to remember.
The card and QR are identifiers only — the value lives safely in the ledger, never on the plastic.
Sent under your shop’s name, with a link to what you are holding for them. Works when data is down; queued tills send themselves.
A worked example: on a $1.50 bill paid with a $10 note, the till puts $3.50 on the customer’s card and hands back a $5 note. Everyone’s square.
The customers whose change you hold have bought from you, trust you, and have money waiting at your till. They don’t need convincing — just a nudge to come back this week. Marii puts your special on their phone, with no algorithm in the way.
1.25% across brand pages; 4.35% for small pages of 1,000–5,000 followers. The rest never see it.
Socialinsider, Social Media Reach Statistics, 2026The average for traffic campaigns — and you pay to be shown to the other 98%, most of them strangers.
LocaliQ / WordStream, Facebook Advertising Benchmarks, 2025 (US)Mobile connections equal 95% of the population. A text reaches any phone, needs no data and lands on the lock screen.
DataReportal, Digital 2026: ZimbabweThe average click rate for SMS campaigns — sent to people who asked to hear from the business.
Omnisend, SMS Marketing Benchmarks, 2026These measure different things — how many followers a post reaches, how many people click an ad they are shown, how many people click a text they receive — so they sit side by side rather than as one number times another.
Cards come with your first year. Renewals carry your text allowance — more cards are $3.50 each, minimum 100. SMS top-ups at $20 / $50 / $100 whenever you need them.
No value ever sits on the card — it is an identifier. Every cent lives in a ledger with a full audit trail, so a lost card loses nothing: the customer blocks it in seconds, staff link a replacement and what was on it is exactly where it was.
Spending needs proof it is them: the signed code on their own phone, or their card and their PIN — checked by our servers, never stored on your till. A phone number alone can receive change but never spend, and a photocopied card is useless without the PIN.
The till keeps working. Keeping change, and spending with the code on the customer’s phone, both work offline — transactions queue on the device and send themselves when the signal returns. Spending by card needs a connection, because the PIN is checked by our servers and never kept on the till.
