Scanning and gate management
The free Marii gate app validates every QR instantly, rejects duplicates, and keeps checking people in even when the venue has no internet.
What is the Marii gate app?
The Marii gate app is the free check-in tool for your event entrance. Gate staff scan each buyer's QR code straight from their phone screen, and the app validates it instantly against your guest list. Every ticket QR is one-time use, so once someone is in, that ticket cannot be used again. There are no gate fees and no limit on scanning devices.
Running your gate on event day
Set up your scanning devices
The gate app is free and runs on any device — a phone, a tablet, whatever your team has. Use as many devices as you need: one at each entrance, an extra for VIP, a spare for the rush. There are no per-device or gate fees.
Get the gate app at gate.marii.app on each device you plan to scan with.
Open the app while you still have signal
The gate app caches your guest list, so check-in keeps working without internet. Open the app and load your event before the crowd arrives — once the guest list is cached, patchy venue signal will not stop the queue.
Scan each QR at the gate
Point the device at the buyer's QR code — shown from their ticket link, an Apple or Google Wallet pass, or a screenshot. All three carry the same code, so any of them scans fine.
The app validates each QR instantly. A valid ticket is checked in on the spot and marked as redeemed.
Let the app handle duplicates and invalid codes
Every QR is one-time use. After the first scan, the ticket is marked as redeemed — if the same QR is presented again (a forwarded screenshot, a re-shown ticket), the duplicate scan is rejected and gate staff can see the ticket has already been used.
A QR that does not belong to your event or is not a genuine Marii ticket simply will not validate, so fake codes fail at the gate rather than getting through.
Check groups in together
When someone bought tickets for a group, each person still has their own QR — but the group admission option lets your gate check the whole party in together instead of scanning them one by one. Useful for tables, crews, and family bookings.
One detail worth knowing: a ticket's holder name can be edited by the buyer up until the moment it is scanned. After scanning, the name locks.
What happens when the internet drops
Venue connectivity in Zimbabwe is not something to bet an entrance queue on — so the gate app is built to work without it. The app caches the guest list, and check-in keeps working offline: tickets are still validated, redeemed tickets are still rejected, and the queue keeps moving.
