What’s changed

Every release of the Marii Cards app, and what it changed for the people using it.

1.1.0Latest

Your other shops’ loyalty cards can live in the app too — added once, kept on this phone, and shown at the till.

  • Add your other shops’ cards

Open My cards, tap Add under Cards you added, and hold the card up to the camera: the app reads its barcode and its colour. If the camera cannot read it, type the number in yourself. You do not need an account for this.

  • Show a card at the till

Tap a card and the app draws its barcode across the screen, turns the phone sideways for the long ones, brightens the screen and keeps it awake while the cashier scans. Some shops still ask for the card itself, so keep the plastic.

  • Name each card, and choose its colour

Call the card whatever you call it at the till. Its colour is read off the card as you add it, and you can change it to any of eleven. Edit or delete a card whenever you like.

  • They stay on this phone

The number, the name and the colour sit on the handset and are never sent to us, so we cannot see them or bring them back. Signing out, or asking us to delete your data, removes them — the app says how many first.

1.0.2

Specials from your shops, with pictures, and a say over which shops may send you offers. Your Marii card can now have a PIN.

  • Specials from your shops

When a shop you hold credit with posts a special, it shows under For you on Home — with its pictures, how long it runs, and what you already hold there. Tap See all for every special on now, and tap a picture to see it full size.

  • You choose who sends you offers

Profile → Sharing now has a switch for each shop, and one that turns offers off everywhere at once. It never stops the message telling you a shop saved your change — that is your money, not an offer.

  • A PIN for your Marii card

Set a 4-digit PIN in Profile → Card PIN. You type it at the till when you pay with your card, and it works with every Marii card you hold. The code on your phone works as before.

  • Report a lost card

Your cards are listed under Card PIN. Report one lost and it stops working straight away. Your credit stays with your phone number, and any shop that issues cards can give you a new one.

  • Refunds in your activity

When a shop pays your credit back in cash, it shows in that card’s activity as Refunded, with its own filter.

1.0.1

Activity does more: you can follow it back as far as it goes, and ask a shop about anything on it that does not look right.

  • Ask a shop about a transaction

Tap any line in a card’s activity to see what it was. If it still looks wrong, the app writes the shop an email with the date and amount already in it. It goes to them rather than to us — they hold the credit, and only they can check it against their till.

  • Activity keeps loading as you scroll

It now fetches the next page as you reach the bottom, back to the first change that shop ever saved for you.

  • Notifications while the app is open

A notification about your change used to stay hidden if you had the app open at the time. Now it shows either way — except on the Pay screen, where a banner would cover the code you are holding up at the till.

  • Your phone signs your pay code

The code you show at the till is now signed by a key that never leaves your phone. Nothing changes in how you use it — one code, refreshed every minute, still working with no signal.

  • Told when you need to update

If your app is too old for a shop’s till, Marii Cards says so and offers the update, instead of letting the code fail while you stand at the counter. Your credit is untouched either way.

1.0.0

The first release of Marii Cards.

  • A card for every shop

Each shop holding change for you gets its own card, in that shop’s name and colour. Credit is never pooled and never moves between shops.

  • One code for every till

A single code, refreshed every minute, that any Marii shop can scan to find you. It works with no signal, so a queue never waits on your data.

  • Told the moment change is saved

A notification and a text, either of which lands you on that exact card.

  • Every change and every spend, listed

Each card keeps its own running list, with the date and the shop’s own reference against each line.

  • You choose what each shop knows

Your name and birthday are shared with a shop only if you say so, and you can turn that off for one shop without touching the others.

  • No password, no account to create

You get a code by text on the number your shop already registered, and then you stay signed in.

Something on your card not looking right? The shop that gave you the credit holds the same record you do, and is the one who can put it right. If the app itself is at fault, write to hello@zeevio.co.zw.
