Marii Cards holds as little about you as the product can work with: a phone number, and the credit your shops are keeping for you. This page says exactly what that means, in the order you are likely to care about it.
What we hold
Your phone number. This is your account. It is how a shop finds your credit at the till and how we send you a sign-in code. There is no password and no email address.
Your name and birthday — only if you enter them. Both are optional, and the app works fully without them. They exist so a shop can greet you properly or offer you something on your birthday.
Your credit and its history. For each shop: the balance they are holding, and the record of change added and credit spent, with the till and date.
Device information for notifications. If you allow notifications, we store the token your phone's operating system gives us so we can tell you when a shop saves your change.
How the app is used, and when it breaks. The app records which screens are opened and which buttons are tapped, and sends a report if it crashes, so we can see what is confusing and fix what fails. These records carry your account's internal ID, the app version and your phone model — never your phone number, your name, your birthday or any balance. You can switch this off in Profile → “Share usage data”, and the app works exactly the same without it.
Other shops' cards you add — on your phone, not with us. If you scan another shop's loyalty card into the app, its number, the name you give it and its colour are stored on your phone only. They are never sent to us, and we cannot see, restore or recover them. The camera is used only while you add a card, to read its barcode and colour; no photo is taken or saved. Signing out, or asking us to delete your data, removes these cards from the phone.
What we do not hold
- No card, bank or mobile-money details. Marii Cards never takes a payment — credit is change a shop already owed you.
- No location, contacts, photos or files.
- No tracking of you across other apps or websites, and no advertising identifiers. We do not sell data, and there is nothing here to sell.
What each shop can see
A shop always sees the phone number of a customer whose credit they are holding — without it they cannot find your credit at the till.
A shop sees your name and birthday only if you have chosen to share them with that shop, in Profile → Sharing. It is per shop, never all-or-nothing, and you can stop at any time. Stopping does not affect your credit.
Shops never see your credit at any other shop. Credit belongs to the shop that gave it, and nothing is pooled or compared across them.
Who else sees anything
Only the suppliers needed to run the service: our hosting provider, the network operator that carries your SMS and push notifications, and PostHog, which stores the usage and crash records described above on servers in the United States. They process this on our instructions and for no purpose of their own. We do not share your information with anyone else, and we do not disclose it to a third party unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Your credit and its history stay for as long as the credit exists, plus the period a shop needs for its own accounting. Sign-in codes are deleted once used or after ten minutes. Notification tokens are removed when you sign out. Usage and crash records are kept for up to one year and then deleted, and are deleted sooner if you ask us to delete your account.
Your choices
- Stop sharing your name or birthday with any shop, at any time, in Profile → Sharing.
- Turn off usage reportingin Profile → “Share usage data”. Nothing about how you use the app is sent after that.
- Turn off notificationsin your phone's settings. You will still receive the SMS, because that is what reaches you when your phone is off or out of data.
- Change your phone number in the app. Your credit and cards move with you.
- Ask for a copy or a deletion — email us, or ask at the shop. The steps are on Delete my account. If you ask for deletion while a shop still holds credit for you, we will tell you so first, because deleting the account gives up the money.
Children
Marii Cards is not aimed at children. An account exists because a shop gave someone their change back, so we do not knowingly collect anything from a child beyond that.
Security
Everything travels encrypted. Signing in needs a code sent to your number, so someone holding your card cannot reach your account. Spending your credit at a till needs your card and your PIN, or the code on your phone — a card alone, or a phone number alone, is never enough to spend. Your PIN is checked by our servers each time and is never stored on a shop's device.
Changes, and how to reach us
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will say so in the app before it takes effect. Questions, corrections or a deletion request: hello@zeevio.co.zw, or +263 78 295 8724.
